Israel becomes a dictatorship this month – huge protest planned Tuesday

If you’ve waiting for the right moment to participate in the protest, now is the time to act. After seven months, the government is poised to push forward with the ‘reasonableness’ bill this week. Israel doesn’t have a written constitution, a second house, or a powerful head of state (America has all three) – the only safeguard against potential government overreach lies in an independent judiciary. Without this crucial element, the government could potentially nullify elections, annex the West Bank without granting voting rights to its Arab citizens, and infringe upon the rights of the LGBTQ+ community and women (you can read more in the excellent coverage by the Times of Israel). We have to take action. There is a huge Day of Resistance planned on Tuesday – check out the event on our website, we’ll keep on updating as we get more info.

Starting Tuesday: See the Best of Modern Dance from Around the World

The Tel Aviv Dance Festival is back to heat up the city! From July 18 to August 3, the Suzanne Dellal Centre will be transformed into a melting pot of cultures and identities. This year’s festival features a diverse program of international and local dance performances, and workshops. Highlights include: an exciting strategic ballet by Edouard Hue and the Beaver Dam Company (Swiss/France), a beautiful show in images by Tadhi Alawi and Samuel Japhet (Tanzania), and an amazing free outdoor hip-hop break dance show called Cypher Connection. Thursday: An epic Nerf battle is taking over the Dizengoff Center

The Dizengoff Center is about to be overrun by Nerfers. On July 20th, the first Nerf Challenge in Israel will take over the 1st floor of the center. In the morning, test your skills in a target shooting competition. Then, in the evening, join forces with your friends and battle it out in a series of challenges. This event is for ages 12 and up. Thursday: The Master of Techno and House Takes Over Gagarin

This is your chance to see one of the most legendary DJs in the world live in action. John Digweed is a DJing icon, a techno titan, a house hero. New programs from Tel Aviv University to tackle Climate Change

According to the United Nations, the world had its the hottest week on record just a couple of weeks ago. Climate change is not going away, and – with its recently launched interdisciplinary Center for Global Climate Change, as well as three international master’s (MA) programs focused on the environment – Tel Aviv University (TAU) is positioning itself as a global leader in tackling climate change. Each of the international environmental MA programs at TAU, offered in English through The Lowy International School, take one year to complete and focus on a different aspect or approach to the environment and climate.
