Rosh HaShanah kicks off High Holiday Season this Friday Eve

Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, is upon us! This year it starts on Friday evening, September 15th and there’s no better place to celebrate than Tel Aviv. The city is alive with festivities, from communal dinners and concerts to parties that go all night long. There are loads of fun Rosh HaShanah community dinners!

Celebrate Rosh Hashanah with a delicious meal, good company, and plenty of excitement at one of Tel Aviv’s many communal dinners. One of our favorite synagogues, the Tel Aviv International Synagogue is hosting a gourmet Seder dinner, featuring all your favorite traditional dishes and some modern twists. There are also communal dinners with JTLV, Ichud Shivat Zion, Chabad on the Coast, and the LGBTQ Center! Celebrate the New Year with three days of partying starting Thursday

Tel Avivi’s don’t need much excuse to party, so New Year is a big 3 day festival here! Finish the year in style with loads of parties on Thursday night – highlights include a fire rave with top Brazilian DJ and star of Tomorrowland Öwnboss @ Barby (pic above), the Bagatelle crew have a top party @ Reading 3, and dance the whole night with Israeli favorite electronic DJ Duo Red Axes @ Haoman 17. Start the year like you mean to continue on Saturday – Famous DJ Solomun will be headlining at the party @ Park HaYarkon, there’s an open-bar funky rooftop party @ Allenby 49, and dance the night away @ Reading 3. What better way to celebrate than with a great concert? Tonight indie superstar Hila Ruach performs at the Barby and local jazz favourite Noa has a concert at Shablul; and tomorrow Efrat Gosh has a vinyl launch show @ Barby. Thursday is huge with concerts by Dudu Tassa and Jonny Greenwood @ Hangar 11, Gal De Paz gives a stunning piano recital at Hahashmal 18, Girafot bring their high-energy rock show to Barby, and Ravid Plotnik takes over the Menorah Arena. It’s a great week for standup comedy! Tonight hear cringe dating and relationship stories at Fadichot Night @ Collabo (in Hebrew). On Wednesday there are two hilarious events – the Bearfoot Improv Crew have a fundraising show in English @ Lincoln 16 and Radio EPGB host their weekly Hebrew standup show; and on Thursday Benji Lovitt leads an all-star cast at TLV Laughs @ Hoodna (in English).
