Meet Nadine Weinmann, 37, from Vienna, Austria. An event planner who made Aliya in 2009 and found the Yin to her Yang in Michal Amsalem, 31, from Acco, Israel. They founded Miss Dandelion Events, an event planning agency that specializes in planning, creating and organizing events for Olim and tourists, who are looking for that certain something different. Weddings, Bar/Bat Mizvahs, Birthdays, product launches or whatever the need.

What were your first steps into the business world?

Ha! I think my first experience and love for organizing events, might have started at a very early age, when I organized birthday parties for my 6 years younger brother and his friends …. But I believe that my organizational talent always kind of led me to where I am today. In my last job I was a marketing manager and took care of the corporate events. That’s where I met Michal, my business partner. She was the Creative Director and our visions were always symbiotic. It made a lot of sense for us to combine our talents into the event business sector and to be able to make other people very happy with our ideas and visions.

Who is the one person, past or present, you’d love to have dinner with?

My Grandmother. Omi passed away almost 7 years ago before I moved to Israel. She was my best friend and I’d love to show and tell her about my life now. She would be so proud.

Tel Aviv or New York?

For many many years I was convinced it was New York. But after moving here I realized, Tel Aviv is just like New York, but with a beach! I guess only shopping is better in New York.

What are your favourite weekend activities?

Beach. Definitely. I love the beach. I love the sea, the sand and the warmth. It relaxes me more than a great nights sleep.

What is your homepage?

That’s an easy one – our website is www.missdandelionevents.com and our Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/missdandelionevents

What makes your company different from other companies?

Well, first and foremost, I think that the fact of having 2 girls from completely different backgrounds makes it very appealing to clients, as we can cover all aspects of a Jewish event. I was born and raised in Austria in a very traditional Ashkenazi family, whereas Michal was born in Acco and has Moroccan roots. We can understand the Sephardic needs just as well as the Ashkenazi ones and because I speak fluent, English and German (and Hebrew) we can cater to a lot of tourists and Olim who usually struggle to understand the world of events, specially weddings, here in Israel.

Secret Tel Aviv is the perfect example of how Olim and tourists, feel lost in the jungle of wedding planning here in Israel, as we can read a question about wedding halls, photographers, flowers, etc almost on a daily basis.

What’s your hidden talent?

I make awesome, badass sandwiches. I don’t really cook, but I can whip up a great sandwich with a nice blend of different tastes.

What is the best place you’ve traveled to?

I’ve been in a lot of great places, but if I had to choose, I guess it would have to be Brazil or Costa Rica. I just love the combination of rain forest and beach….

Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner?

Breakfast, without a doubt! Always has been like that, but especially in Israel with all the amazing places to have yummy breakfast, such as Benedict or Dizi (yes, thats my second living room – they have the best eggs on toast in town)

What are you totally addicted to?

Tutti Frutti. Its a gummi candy from Austria. My parents always have to bring me some when they come to Israel

What’s the best advice you ever got from your parents?

“ Smile. Cause with a smile on your face the world is yours.” My mum used to write that in my birthday cards. And it’s really true.

What’s your favourite Hebrew word?

Kapara. Can’t really tell you why, but I love the sound of it and I love how you can use it for girls, boys or anyone you want to call by a nickname. 😉

What or who is your biggest inspiration?

Pinterest. LOL. Sounds weird, but its true. When I can’t fall asleep, I just browse through Pinterest and get really inspired. Since we design our events too and my business partner is a designer, who shares my creativity, I like to get inspired by other events and designs happening around the world.

Amazing, thanks alot Nadine! You can see Miss Dandelion in person at this year’s Secret Tel Aviv Olim Expo on 27th and 28th of November 2014 at the Dizenegoff Centre!
