Many in Israel consume cannabis, and some of us even oppose its use. But have you ever stopped to think why we were even born into a world where we know cannabis is a banned drug? How did it happen that the innocent-looking plant, which has been known to have medical benefits since prehistoric times as well as in ancient Egypt, became so synonymous?
In this fascinating lecture, we will move between the stations in history that led to cannabis being outlawed at an almost global level, and we will discover the delusional plots behind this difficult policy. We will expand on the history of cannabis smuggling, and the difference in policy before and after the establishment of the state. And we will discuss the question of questions – will a day come and there will be glaziness in Israel or is there really no chance that such a thing will happen? And if so, what will the day after look like?
Yotam Levin, holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in chemical engineering from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and is an activist for the legalization of cannabis. He will soon begin his doctoral studies in medical cannabis at the Faculty of Health Sciences at Ben-Gurion University. *** The lecture will begin at 21:00, doors open at 20:00 ***
