The reading of the letter from March 2023 calling for a freeze on the development and implementation of artificial intelligence for six months.
The humanist project is challenged and threatened from all sides, robots and cyborgs, octopuses and dolphins, fetuses and aliens, animals and man-monsters are guarding its doors. The question of human limits comes up in living room conversations, family dinners, parliamentary committees and Saturday parliaments. The boundaries are being stretched everywhere – conservative movements and animal rights activists, technology entrepreneurs and neuroscientists, and recently we received a horrifying reminder from religious fundamentalists and murderous terrorists, they too have something to say about the nature of man.
Preoccupation with human limits is at the heart of speculative creation and science fiction, the question of the domain between man and machine, animal and monster, the domain between the natural and the artificial, the civilized and the wild, the living and the dead, the living and the dead, the human and the subhuman, the superhuman, the divine, diabolical
Who is a person? What is considered human? How do we know to identify? Is indeed nothing human alien?

הקראת המכתב ממרץ 2023 הקורא להקפאת הפיתוח והמימוש של בינה מלאכותית למשך חצי שנה.
הפרויקט ההומניסטי מאותגר ומאוים מכל עבר, צובאים על דלתותיו רובוטים וסייבורגים, תמנונים ודולפינים, עוברים וחייזרים, חיות ומפלצות-אדם. השאלה על גבולות האנושי עולה בשיחות סלון, ארוחות ערב משפחתיות, בוועדות פרלמנטריות ובפרלמנטים של שבת. את הגבולות מותחים לכל עבר – תנועות שמרניות ופעילי זכויות בעלי חיים, יזמי טכנולוגיה ומדעני מוח, ולאחרונה זכינו לתזכורת מחרידה מפונדמנטליסטים דתיים וטרוריסטים רצחניים, גם להם יש מה לומר על טיבו של האדם.
עיסוק בגבולות האנושי נמצא בלב היצירה הספקולטיבית והמדע הבדיוני, שאלת התחום בין האדם למכונה, לחיה, למפלצת, התחום בין הטבעי למלאכותי, המתורבת לפראי, החי למת, למת-החי, לאל-מת, האנושי לתת-אנושי, לעל-אנושי, לאלוהי, לשטני.
מיהו אדם? מה נחשב אנושי? איך נדע לזהות? האם אכן שום דבר אנושי אינו זר?
