The melodies “melt” on her tongue with their richness and maturity. Her show is rich in Latin, Portuguese and African spices.. She spices her singing with Morna rhythms and Coladeira beats. She recorded 3 albums that were a global success. She won awards; The outstanding artist of Cape Verde, ‘Miriam Makba’ for excellence in music, the award of excellence of the Ministry of Culture in Cape Verde;

Maria de Barros, who has a warm, intimate and exotic voice, comes to 3 shows and will perform with 6 other musicians in Israel.

The music of Maria de Barros passes through countries and cultures and collects pieces of the Caribbean islands, Brazil, France, Spain, Africa, while “singing the tradition” of the Cape Verde Islands.

Maria is the eldest daughter of parents who immigrated to Senegal from Cape Verde and from there to New England, USA. In this area there is a very large community of immigrants from Cape Verde. After her marriage, she moved to Los Angeles where she was exposed to a variety of musical styles that enriched and perfected her musical world. Over the years she began to sing with old and young musicians who immigrated to the USA from Cape Verde.
