On the 25th July, IsraAID, The Combat Genocide Association and SID – the Society for International Development, are privileged to host Nadia Murad, a UNODC Goodwill Ambassador and Nobel Peace Prize nominee. For the first time in Israel, Nadia will share her personal experiences and the story of the Yazidi people.

Since August 2014, the Yazidi minority in northern Iraq has suffered a genocide at the hands of ISIS. This led to the forced conversion, massacre, expulsion, sexual exploitation, slavery and torture of the Yazidi people. Nadia was one of the thousands of Yazidi women abducted by ISIS. Since her escape, she has become a public advocate for the Yazidi community, telling her story on the world stage.

Since 2014, IsraAID has worked closely with the Yazidi community in Iraq, Greece and Germany, providing relief items and trauma care to thousands of men, women and children. We feel a deep responsibility to share this forgotten story around the world and in Israel. Today, 1,500 women and children remain enslaved by ISIS and over 400,000 Yazidis are displaced and in need of critical assistance.
