Jared Arrowhead and Brian McFadden are The Vacant Lots! The electro-psychedelic duo, originally from Vermont USA, began working at the beginning of this decade and has become well-placed in the Brooklyn scene, and the magic of their minimalist-primitive rock n ‘roll is in unbridled energy that rips psychedelic structures with real punk spirit. It is a recurring theme reflected in minimalist aesthetics, texts, and black and white designs, which are characterized by optical illusions.
The ensemble has released 4 EP’s and 2 full studio albums to date, and has collaborated with quite a few underground legends. And yes, there’s a serious neimdropping here. Sonic Boom (one of the founders of the legendary 3 Spacemen) produced their debut album, the late Ellen Vega “Hosted” in background vocals on their second album in tribute to his mother band Suicide. The duo also warmed one of Suicide’s last performances in March 2015. Master Brian (Jonathon Massacre) recorded an EP pair with them, the latter expected to release on Newcombe’s label during the coming year.
Over the years, The Vacant Lots has appeared alongside artists such as The Black Angels, The Growlers and of course The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Among their influences are ensembles such as The Gun Club and Television to authentic Indian music.
In the coming months they will travel to the US and Europe, alongside the Dandy Warhols and the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
The duo will arrive in Israel for the first time on June 10 for one show at Levontin 7.
