The Dead Sea Life Competition was launched during the height of Coronavirus, as an official Earth Day initiative by Noam Bedein & Ari Leon Fruchter, founders of the Dead Sea Revival Project – a non-profit dedicated to documenting the Dead Sea and sharing it globally.
Submissions arrived from a total of 40 countries and 3524 photographers, and included 13,123 photos and 9,083,102 votes. The panel of judges consisted of Spencer Tunick, Roie Galitz, Keren Bar Gil, & Casey Kelbaugh who selected Alex Bronfer for the Best Photograph, and helped choose 40 images for the exhibition.
The works were initially presented at the Arad Cultural Center, and are now divided between two locations; Abraham Jerusalem and Abraham Tel-Aviv.
Initiators Noam & Ari say: “We were ecstatic and completely unprepared for the mass public support we received for the photo competition, and are now doing everything possible for the world to enjoy these works through both a physical exhibit and a virtual museum. Our dream is to be able to one day build and operate a physical museum by the Dead Sea”.
Opening night of the exhibition will be held on Thursday 01/06/23 at 19:00
Please note – the works are split between Abraham Tel-Aviv and Abraham Jerusalem, and in both locations are displayed around the staircase, between all floors 🙂
Exhibition visiting hours: Daily between 10:00-20:00
Closing date: Saturday eve 01/07

תחרות “חיי ים המלח” הושקה בשיא תקופת הקורונה, כיוזמה רשמית לכבוד יום כדור-הארץ של נועם בדיין וארי ליאון פרוכטר, מייסדי פרויקט “תחיית ים-המלח” – מלכ”ר המוקדש לתיעוד ים-המלח והפצתו ברחבי העולם.
הגשות הגיעו מ-40 מדינות ו-3524 צלמים, וכללו 13,123 תמונות ו-9,083,102 הצבעות. חבר השופטים כלל את ספנסר טוניק, רועי גליץ, קרן בר גיל וקייסי קלבו, שבחרו בעבודתו של אלכס ברופר לתצלום הטוב ביותר, לצד 40 תמונות נוספות לתערוכה.
העבודות הוצגו תחילה במרכז לתרבות בערד, וכיום מחולקות בין שני מקומות; אברהם ירושלים ואברהם תל-אביב.
היוזמים, נועם וארי, מספרים: “היינו נלהבים ולגמרי לא מוכנים לתמיכה הציבורית ההמונית שקיבלנו לתחרות הצילום, ועכשיו עושים ככל הניתן על מנת שהעולם יהנה מהעבודות גם דרך תערוכה ממשית וגם באמצעות מוזיאון וירטואלי. אנו חולמים כי יום אחד נוכל לבנות ולהפעיל מוזיאון פיזי ליד ים-המלח”.
ערב פתיחת התערוכה יתקיים ביום חמישי 01/06/23 בשעה 19:00
שימו לב – העבודות מפוצלות בין אברהם תל-אביב ואברהם ירושלים, ובשני הלוקיישנים מוצגות ברחבי חדר-המדרגות, בין כל הקומות 🙂
