The Alchemist’s Garden
March 13-16, 2019

Exploring Emotional Intelligence through the 5 Chambers of the Heart
Movement Medicine Shamanic Practice with Ya’Acov Darling Khan

The Alchemist’s Garden is Movement Medicine for the heart. The dancer inside you knows how to shape, energise, communicate and let go of whatever arises in the dance. For the dancer, all experience, be it physical, emotional or rooted in the mind, is another invitation to create with life.

The Alchemist’s Garden retreat reminds us of what e-motion (energy in motion) is for. When we bring together the kinaesthetic intelligence of the body, the consciousness of the embodied mind, and the instincts of our animal hearts, we become much more aware of the choices we are making either consciously or unconsciously. These choices affect our perception and therefore our experience of life.

The body was made to dance. And when we truly set the dancer inside us free, we will inevitably meet the places inside us that remain colonised by past pain or trauma. Our intention will be the transformation of the lead of our personal and ancestral histories into the gold of present moment awareness. We will work with the five chambers of the heart (awakening, integrity, surrender, gratitude and grace) as a medicine wheel. This alchemical process works directly with the physical structure of the body to strengthen our core and create energetic support for the heart. Through this process, we will dispel ancient shadows and recover the instinctive and intuitive power of the embodied heart.

Part of our work is the creation of a temple of installations. These installations will form the bedrock of the landscape we call The Alchemist’s Garden, in which we will spend the last night of the workshop in ceremony. In this garden of possibility, the dancer is able to create the appropriate alchemical mixture for purification, healing and dancing prayer for themselves and for all our relations.

Ya’Acov has been studying and practicing shamanism all his life. When he was 21, he was hit by lightning and through this, began a three-decade-long journey of initiation. He has been recognised as a practicing shaman by Elder Shamans from the Sami (European tradition), and Achuar and Sápara peoples of the Amazon. Together with his wife Susannah, he is the Co-Creator of Movement Medicine, a contemporary and dynamic shamanic practice designed to support people from all walks of life to be who they are and give what they’ve got. Ya’Acov’s work come straight from the heart. He inspires people, often with great humour, to remember who they are. He is the creator of Shaman’s Song – Shamanic Journeys to Empower, Inspire and Re-Connect (Hay House 2018), Co-Author of Movement Medicine – How to Dance, Awaken and Live your Dreams, (Hay House 2009) and the author of Jaguar in the Body, Butterfly in the Heart (Hay House 2017) and Shaman – Walking Between the Worlds to be published by Hay House in May 2019.
