About the Speaker:

Avi Issacharoff, co-creator of the internationally acclaimed TV series “Fauda” and a former Middle East analyst for The Times of Israel and Walla, has made significant contributions to journalism, academia, and scriptwriting. Born in Jerusalem, Avi’s interest in the Middle East led him to pursue a B.A. in Middle Eastern studies at Ben Gurion University, followed by an M.A. from Tel Aviv University, both with honors. Fluent in Arabic, Avi’s work as the Middle East Affairs correspondent for Israeli Public Radio provided firsthand insights into key events like the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the war in Iraq. In 2002, he received the “best reporter” award from “Israel Radio” for his coverage of the second intifada.

Prior to his journalism career, Avi served in the Israeli special forces in an undercover unit, where he honed his skills and gained invaluable experience. Teaming up with Amos Harel, Avi co-authored acclaimed books such as “The Seventh War – How we won and why we lost the war with the Palestinians” in 2004 and “34 Days – The Story of the Second Lebanon War” in 2008, earning recognition for their research on security affairs in Israel. Notably, Avi’s fluency in Arabic and deep understanding of the region continue to shape discourse and offer valuable insights into complex geopolitical issues. Currently, Avi writes for Ynet and Yedioth Ahronoth.
