On Thursday ** 29.8 there is a street film festival in the Shapira neighborhood, and “Documentary in Shapiro” takes part in it.

As part of the festival, films from different genres will be screened at various locations in the neighborhood.

As part of the collaboration, we will be screening the film “Shake – The Hidden Life of Shika Ophir”, just as usual – on a larger screen courtesy of the Cinematheque.

The film is nominated for the 2019 Ophir Award in the category for Best Documentary.

After the film, a conversation will be held with the film’s director, Ari Davidovich, who recently hosted us with his film “Want a Website: A Bird in the Room”.

** The film is almost two hours long, so the screening will start at 8pm rather than 8:30 pm **

This is the story that has not yet been told about one of the greatest Israeli actors of all time – Shaikh Ofir. There is no Israeli who does not know Ophir as an entertainer, pantomime or movie star and theater – but not many people really knew the person behind the thousand faces. Sheikh brings the full story of the man who most wanted to be funny and loved, and even managed to reach the top of the entertainment world in Israel and abroad, but paid a heavy personal and family price. Along with Ophir’s brilliant career, the film for the first time draws a spotlight on the most significant women of his life, drawing – through them and through other participants and unseen archives – a surprisingly personal and psychological portrait of the man who became a cultural icon.

The film was screened at the last Docaviv Festival (2019) and is still screened in heart cinema and cinematics in the heart of the country and has received rave reviews.
