Rhythm, virtuosity and improvisation connect the musical worlds of Shai Maestro and Ben Ayalon. At the concert, they will perform original music and traditional music from Senegal with an unusual combination of piano, African drums and strings from the Sahara.
The movement between intense rhythmic energy and melodic softness and delicacy guarantees an extraordinary musical journey, full of listening and inspiration of the moment.
Shai Maestro is considered one of the greatest jazz pianists of his generation. His latest album Human – the sixth and the second on the prestigious record company ECM – was chosen for the British Guardian’s list of 10 albums of the year!
Percussion virtuoso Ben Ayalon made a world name for himself in the field of African drums after developing a unique playing style on a modern African drum system. His album Xalam was named album of the year in the world music magazine Songlines.
