In commemorance of Holocaust Remembrance Day and Heroism, we will screen the acclaimed film “Stalags – Holocaust and Pornography in Israel”. Documenting an important and forgotten phase in shaping the collective memory of the Holocaust in Israel.
After the screening, we will host the director of the film, Ari Libsker, for a conversation

The Stalags are pocket books whose plot deals with female SS officers. Lusts who sexually abuse prisoners in the camps. In the 1960s, at the same time as the Eichmann trial, the sale of these pornographic pamphlets broke records in Israel and hundreds of thousands of copies were sold in kiosks. The status of the Stalags was undermined only after a high-profile trial, which accused its writers of distributing anti-Semitic pornography, they were confiscated and erased from the pages of history. The film investigates the phenomenon, reveals for the first time the founders of the genre and offers the claim that the combination between pornography and the Holocaust is also found in canonical Holocaust literature and in large areas of Holocaust representations in Israel to this day.
