We are happy to continue our winter screenings with a particularly warm film, “Hummus, the film” directed by Oren Rosenfeld.

“Hummus, the film” deals with hummus, and especially the connection between people through hummus.
Three completely different figures are shown during the film: a Muslim woman from Akko, a religious Jew from Yokne’am and a Christian from Ramle who is on a continuous journey to find meaning, but all of them unify love for hummus.

The first is a young Christian who divides his time between Berlin and Ramle and seeks the combination of respect and love for tradition and hummus and the fact that he is a pretty cool person.
The second, an eye-warming Breslovist, a newly observant Jew who has reached his salvation through the hummus, and today controls a network of 12 hummus.
The third, the admirable Suheila, is the first Elizabeth of the hummus world – a Muslim woman who took her father’s place as head of the family and built an empire, but never married.

These are people who live in different worlds, yet at certain moments it seems that the rabbi is similar to the other. When the film follows them to significant places and events, they are revealed in their very human moments.
