We think you have already understood that recently we are strong in Japanese cinema and really like the films of the director Hayao Miyazaki🎬
This time we will watch the famous movie “Princess Mononoke” which was released in 1997 and won the award of the Japanese Film Academy in the category of the best movie of the year!

The film is told from the point of view of Ashitaka, a former prince who went into exile in order to remove a curse from him. During his travels he got into difficult struggles between the humans and the animals of the forest.
Before the film we will meet for Tom Shapira’s lecture “Without cuts, or – how Hayao Miyazaki came to the West”
Rumor has it that before the movie Princess Mononoke was released in the United States, Miyazaki sent the American distributors a katana sword with the words “no cuts” written on it.
Is this true or exaggerated? What is certain is that after years in which Miyazaki’s films were hardly distributed in the West, or were distributed in horribly cut and edited versions, Princess Mononoke was the first time that the American (and later Israeli) audience was exposed to Miyazaki as he is, and the Western world’s attitude to Japanese animation will change forever…
