Romeo + Juliet
USA (1996)

A modern and particularly stylish version of Shakespeare’s romantic tragedy. Baz Luhrmann takes the larger-than-life classic story of Romeo and Juliet and brings it to a post-modern city called Verona Beach. In this version, the Capulets and the Montagues are two rival gangs. Juliet (Claire Danes) attends a fancy dress party held by her parents. Her father Fulgencio Capulet (Paul Sorvino), designates Juliet to marry the rude Paris (Paul Rudd). Romeo (Leonardo DiCaprio) also attends the masquerade ball and Juliet and Romeo fall in love.

רומיאו וג’ולייט | Romeo + Juliet
ארה”ב (1996)

גרסה מודרנית ומסוגננת במיוחד לטרגדיה הרומנטית של שייקספיר. באז לורמן לוקח את הסיפור הקלאסי הגדול מהחיים של רומיאו וג’ולייט ומביא אותו לעיר פוסט-מודרנית בשם ורונה ביץ’. בגרסה זו, הקפולטים והמונטגים הם שתי כנופיות יריבות. ג’ולייט (קלייר דיינס) משתתפת בנשף תחפושות שנערך על ידי הוריה. אביה פולג’נסיו קפולה (פול סורבינו), מייעד את ג’ולייט להינשא לפאריס (פול ראד) גס הרוח. רומיאו (לאונרדו דיקפריו) משתתף גם הוא בנשף המסכות וג’ולייט ורומיאו מתאהבים.
