Jagged, Michal Bachi鈥檚 solo exhibition spanning both gallery spaces, presents a comprehensive collection of paper works from the past decade (with some guests from the past), and reveals the artist’s painting languages.
Looking at Bachi鈥檚 works is similar to moving a camera, zooming in and out. The field of vision is formulated from the observation, in a ceaseless movement from the outside to the inside, from the margins to the center, from the body to its surroundings, from the surface, which seems abstract, to the layers of depth. There, deep down, the subjects of the painting are buzzing. discomfort, incompatibility, breakdowns; A busy back, a loud argument, a lid that doesn’t fit the pot, liquid flowing from a jar, underwear with loose rubber, a stuck stick, a swinging shed. Bachi encrypts secrets within the layers of material and time, perpetuating the small details in the big show.
The project was produced with the assistance of the Tel Aviv Rabinovitz Foundation for the Arts (AR)
