Abraham Gallery is excited to present our favorite art collective, Duck & Dodo Art Group, in a new exhibition alongside guest artists called “Moomintrol + Comet – Life in the Age of Comets”.
The idea for the exhibition was inspired by “Comet in Moominland”, a book by the Finnish author Tove Jansson first published in 1946, which has since been translated into dozens of languages and received several adaptations.
In the book, a strange and mysterious guest called the Muskrat arrives at the Moomin house, and tells the gang about the universe and the dangerous stars that roam it. He goes on to reveal that he senses that a great disaster is about to happen. Under the threat of the approaching comet, the heroes of the book go on a journey and experience what is happening through humor and a lot of life wisdom.
Today, Duck & Dodo are asking: what is it like to live in the age of comets?
How do we continue to exist when the dangerous stars are approaching, hovering over us and threatening our routine? Our era is full of comets. Small and large, personal and public – they reveal themselves to us and affect us in different ways.
The exhibition does not seek to provide a direct interpretation of Jansson’s book, but to present artworks inspired by it and referring to life under comets; where each of them, and us, has our own comet.
The exhibition will be presented at the Abraham Gallery (Floor [-1]), 21 Levontin St., Tel-Aviv
