This series of works by Sima Landa was created in response to the media exposure of the high levels of pollution in Haifa Bay.
Over a period of time, the artist secretly entered the most heavily guarded areas of the Gulf and aimed her camera directly at the buildings of the refineries.
In contrast, Landa’s reversal of the images she has taken violates the reporting logic of index photography, extracting a new formality that allows her to re-examine what exists.
