A simple story in collaboration with Netzach publishing house, happy to invite you to a joint reading meeting with the release of Amir new book: “Messages from a distant land”
The booklet 聽contains 35 dated fragments written from October 8, 2023 until the first day of December this year, together with records of local birds.
The short texts were taken out of the notebook and brought to print as soon as possible, out of a sense of urgency and with the clear intention of presenting the Hebrew reader with a linguistic sequence that will dispel the emotional fog a little, a book that one can stay with, breathe from right now. This is an attempt to save through language something that will not return from the difficult historical moment, from the initial shock that we are now experiencing together.
In these fragments Menschoff deliberately avoids any reference to the dramatic events that took place during the actual writing. He separates his writing hands from the erupting emotion and the self-evident semantic fields of war and disaster, whose contact is inevitably burning, quenching, blinding.
The fragments and drawings of the birds are brought into this book out of the necessity to do precisely now what only art is capable of doing: to soften and air things in favor of the possibility of the other view, which has something of healing in it.
The profits of the first edition will be transferred as a donation to the victims of the Shevah massacre in October.
