Liraz hosts the A-WA Sisters trio in a Persian-Yemeni celebration in Zappa Tel Aviv!

The esteemed singer and actress Liraz Czech in a first-of-its-kind musical project that combines Iranian music from the 1960s and 1970s with contemporary electronic music and bits. As born to Iranian parents, From her childhood, Liraz absorbed Persian culture through popular music, traditional foods and inherited language, and it was precisely on her visit to Los Angeles, on the Iranian immigrant streets, that Liraz was exposed to musical works by opponents of the revolution: the same music that was banned from hearing in Iran in the post-revolution days.

The connection between bits and Iranian works in the musical project is related to Liraz’s burning desire to combine the traditional story of her parents with her contemporary story. This is how the connection with producer Rejuicer was created, to give the piece consisting of LA’s unique sound that resonates with that formative visit. For Liraz, both of these extremes, the electronic sound and traditional sounds, depict her personal family story and the story of Iran moving between revolutions.

In this show, Liraz will host the Thair, Liron and Tegel Haim Trio, who are A-WA’s favorite composition, and have gone through a similar process with Yemenite music growing up at home and incorporating bits and pieces into the hip-hop world.

Together, this women’s quartet creates an evening that is all a mad Persian-Yemenite celebration, walking the line between tradition and contemporary, between old and new.
