Gloss Gallery - Levontin 14, Tel Aviv,

Gloss Gallery is proud to invite you to the new contemporary art exhibition opening featuring the works by Kaspar Dejong (Amsterdam, the Netherlands).

Kaspar is the young and talented artist from the Netherlands. During last few years he has become one of the most successful emerging contemporary artists in the Netherlands. Kaspar’s works are in collections of MUMC Maastricht, DSM Kunstcollectie, Newspaper de Limburger and private collectors.

His work consists of paintings, drawings and sculptures. Only recently graduated from the Willem de Kooning academy, his working method seems timeless. His approach confronts the viewer with a transformed version of reality. Just as the expressionists distorted images into an expression and minimalists reduced forms to materials, Dejong uses the images of the daily life in a new manner. He deconstructs our everyday objects and images until the moment when their original function is disrupted. The viewer is confronted with a raw image, it is something recognizable, but seems to have been torn from his original context.

Dejong is fascinated by natural processes that make their appearance in the artificial, that is to say; where human involvement can be seen. These natural processes are altered by Dejong, and combined with his distorted images and use of color, these form a new language. Elements such as scratches and dents and materials such as concrete, steel and spray paint can often be find among his works.

Gloss Gallery continues its pursuit of connecting two poles of the word: the Northern Europe and the Middle East. Exhibition of Kaspar Dejong is a new step in establishing the artistic bridge between two nations.
