Jason Rosenblatt provides an interesting take on blues, roots and early jazz. With the sounds of Mississippi and New Orleans for inspiration, Rosenblatt’s original repertoire is performed with good humor.
Rosenblatt is a composer, producer, pianist and harmonica player who is one of the world leaders in diatonic harmonica technique. His appearance on the humble instrument helped open new musical ground for the instrument associated with the blues, for diverse art forms such as jazz, bluegrass, klezmer and Turkish. Best known for his work with Montreal’s Streimel, Rosenblatt eschews the group’s Eastern European deviations and instead turns to the mighty Mississippi sounds for inspiration.
