A Broken Prayer / a journey through the world of creation and prayer by Leonard Cohen

The show deals with Leonard Cohen’s world of creation and prayer and focuses on his ongoing conversation with the Creator.
Throughout his life and work, Leonard Cohen had a complex conversation with God, with the metaphysical, with the beloved (heavenly and physical) and with death. Cohen’s work oscillates between faith and doubt, devotion and defiance, reproach and consolation, love and prayer.
The show moves between Cohen’s songs, subtly connecting them to inspirations from the world of piot and melody and revealing echoes from the Jewish sources. The songs are taken from all periods of Cohen’s work. From his first albums to the farewell album, with the monumental “Henny”.
The songs are performed in English and Hebrew and between them unfold the plot of the life, searches and longings of the wonderful creator.

המופע עוסק בעולם היצירה והתפילה של לאונרד כהן ומתמקד בשיחה המתמשכת שלו עם הבורא.
לאורך כל חייו ויצירתו, ניהל לאונרד כהן שיחה מורכבת עם האל, עם המטאפיזי, עם האהובה (השמימית והגשמית) ועם המוות. יצירתו של כהן נעה בין אמונה וספק, התמסרות והתרסה, תוכחה ונחמה, אהבה ותפילה.
המופע פוסע בין שיריו של כהן, מחבר אותם בעדינות להשראות מעולם הפיוט והניגון וחושף הדהוד מהמקורות היהודיים. השירים לקוחים מכל תקופות היצירה של כהן. החל מאלבומיו הראשונים ועד לאלבום הפרידה, עם “הנני” המונומנטלי.
השירים מבוצעים באנגלית ובעברית וביניהם נפרשים עלילת חייו, חיפושיו וגעגועיו של היוצר המופלא.
