Shortly after the first closure last year I came to the conclusion that I needed to breathe air and freshen up.
I’m not a type of house or routine, and really like to see the world and travel in Israel and abroad. It was a bit difficult to be closed in one place for too long, and so I found myself sitting in front of the waves on Tel Aviv beach and booking a flight to Istanbul. And I decided that October would be a good time to fly, with or without the Corona, even though I had already canceled other flights planned during the year.
At the beginning of October 2020 at the height of the second closure in the country, I boarded a flight to Turkey, where I did a roadtrip of several weeks, when the plan was to continue to Bansko in Bulgaria and return to the country. Eventually, instead of a two-month trip, I found myself on an unplanned 5-month trip to the Balkans with countless experiences.
When I finally returned to Israel, I found a flight ticket for 98 NIS round trip to Abu Dhabi for April. I did not give up on that either and so I found myself again between the planes, traveling during the corona and Ramadan, completely alone in the UAE.
In the lecture I will talk about what it is like to travel alone, in corona time and at low cost, while working remotely (digital nomad) that I started during this period. I will tell about the experiences and people I knew, about the amazing three months I spent in the ski town of Bansko in Bulgaria, how I got stuck abroad when they closed Ben Gurion Airport and how I discovered that I had accidentally talked to the Iranians on Instagram.
In the lecture I will give tips and ideas for solo trips, how to meet people even when no one else is traveling, I will talk about cost savings on the trip and what to watch out for, working remotely and more, using the stories and experiences from my last trips in the past year.
The meeting will be held at Zuzu Bar at Rothschild 32 in Tel Aviv, and you can enjoy your first drink for only NIS 12.
