FRANCE / SPAIN 2017, 103 MIN, SPANISH, HEBREW & ENGLISH SUBTITLES

When Rocío Molina dances, one cannot help but stare in astonishment and think: “this young woman is reinventing Flamenco”. The venues she picks for her performances are unusual, ranging from prisons to museums. They are places where she has room to improvise and push the boundaries of her choreography as far as they can go.
In the months leading up to the debut of her new show Impulso in Paris, she and her musicians are deep in a demanding creative process. Despite incorporating improvisation, modern dance and avant-garde experimentation with objects, paint and musical instruments into her pieces, Molina does not ignore Flamenco’s history. “She manipulates rhythm like dough”, constantly seeking “the tension, the unknown, the self-discovery”.
