Our spring meeting happens on 1.4 – because there is nothing more real and more certain than death. It is an open invitation to a safe space, to free discourse on every aspect of death. No judgment and no agenda. Non-profit, no obligation of identification or continuity. Yes to listening with an open heart, yes to coffee and cake to sweeten the feelings or a sandwich and beer to stir the thoughts.
There are several types of “death coffee” – closed groups for a specified period, open groups over time. But this is a meeting according to the tradition that was founded in Switzerland in 2004 and continued in 2011 to London and spread throughout the world, where we will have several rounds of conversation around the coffee shop tables. Between the rounds there will be time to switch between the tables and order refreshments.
We are all almost strangers, meeting for short periods of time, to tell and hear things, about our own death and that of others.
