Call For Dreams is a movie that invites viewers to a different way of looking. The film slowly develops as a puzzle of details that leaves the connection of their meaning in the hands of the observer. In continuous rain, in a strange nocturnal experience, episodic encounters of strangers take place and agreed-upon interactions take place. A Japanese girl, whose name is Eco, publishes a “call to dreams” ad in a Tokyo newspaper, in which she invites strangers to send her dream descriptions so that she can reinterpret them. She rides a scooter, visits a variety of mysterious men and women and submits for a fee interpretation to dreams seeking decipherment and reconstruction. But some dreams begin to accumulate into a continuous narrative pattern, and the boundaries between reality and dreams blur.
Call For Dreams began as a network project by independent artist and director Ran Slavin. Slavin asked surfers to send him their dreams and in the film he asks to explore cinema as a dreaming machine.
Ran will arrive in the West Bank on Saturday together with the lead actress of Call For Dreams from Who Shmizki. Together they will screen and talk about the film. Ran will talk about his path as an independent director who controls almost all the elements of the work with his own hands: from script, photography and editing to post-production and sound design.
As part of the evening we will also screen his short film 6480 Days. A science fiction film that takes place 18 out of the outbreak of the plague.

קריאה לחלומות הוא סרט המזמין את הצופים לאופן התבוננות שונה. הסרט מתפתח לאט כפאזל של פרטים שמותיר את חיבור משמעותם בידי המתבונן. בגשם מתמשך, בחוויה לילית מוזרה, מתרחשים מפגשים אפיזודיים של זרים ומתקיימות אינטראקציות מוסכמות. נערה יפנית, אֵקוֹ שמה, מפרסמת מודעת “קריאה לחלומות” בעיתון בטוקיו, ובה היא מזמינה זרים לשלוח לה תיאורי חלומות כדי שהיא תעניק להם פירוש מחדש. היא נוסעת על קטנוע, מבקרת מגוון גברים ונשים מסתוריים ומגישה תמורת תשלום פירוש לחלומות המבקשים פיענוח ושחזור. אבל חלומות מסוימים מתחילים להצטבר לדפוס נרטיבי רציף, והגבולות בין מציאות וחלומות מיטשטשים.
קריאה לחלומות התחיל כפרויקט רשת של האמן והבמאי העצמאי רן סלוין. סלוין ביקש מגולשים לשלוח לו את החלומות שלהם ובסרט הוא מבקש לחקור את הקולנוע כמכונת חלימה.
קריאה לחלומות הציג ברשימה ארוכה של פסטיבלים בינהם, טאלין בלאק נייטס, קאמראימאג׳, פסטיבל חיפה, פסטיבל קולנוע דרום וזכה בשורת פרסים בינלאומיים.
רן סלוין יגיע ביום שבת לגדה ביחד עם השחקנית הראשית של קריאה לחלומות ממי שמיזקי. ביחד הם יקרינו וידברו על הסרט.רן ידבר על דרכו כבמאי עצמאי שחולש במו ידיו כמעט על כל רכיבי היצירה: מתסריט, צילום ועריכה ועד פוסט פרודקשן ועיצוב סאונד.
כחלק מהערב נקרין גם את סרטו הקצר 6480 ימים. סרט מדע בדיוני שמתרחש 18 מפרוץ המגיפה.
