THE SULTANS OF SWING
We return every year to a single concert at the regional club and this time with a special song from the debut album by Dyer Streets on the occasion of his 40th anniversary.
At the end of the 70’s, a band broke out in London and heard a sane voice of songwriting with the distinct American influences of Blue Grass, Rhythm N’Bluz, Rock and Country, and became an exceptional phenomenon in the world of punk and disco that dominated.
The song “Soltans of Swing” does not need to be expanded, but the first album includes many pearls worth diving into and discovering. Many fans of Dyer Straits are loyal to the first album that featured the band, with its subtle features and sometimes virtuosity in Mark Napfeller’s restrained form. Rough and bordered by growls and murmurs, delicate vocal harmonies, direct arrangements and not clever but still polished and performed by a bass Quartet, drums and two guitars including the Noffeller brothers.
In the current performance, the Sultans will perform many songs from this wonderful album, and of course the group will continue with the greatest hits and other masterpieces from the Dyer Straits albums.
