A meeting, reading and conversation with the writer and author Adam Ahmed
Moderated by Ali Osman (Head of the ARDC board)
A conversation with the teacher and the author, the Darfurian asylum-seeker living in Israel, who will read from his book ‘The Nightmare of the Exile’ where Ahmed portrays the childhood, his escape route after the war and genocide started and the exile that was forced on him in Egypt and in Israel. The book is full of information about life in Darfur, and includes experiences of Sudanese refugees who have experienced in their escape process tortures in Sinai and imprisonment in Holot camp.
“I portray myself as a bird who is deported from each place in which it seeks to rest, that is forced to fly until its powers fade out” – Adam Ahmed (“Ha’aretz, 2017).

Video Art for Kids – Projection of Short Films, Creation and Activity for the Whole Family
Moderated by Shahar Maron – Train Theater
First exposure to a new digital theater project for kids by the Train Theater in cooperation with Goethe Institut: Short video clips that invite playing and enjoying with everyday materials. Creating a puppet theater with daily and available objects!
An inspirational activity for kids and for the whole family. Parents, grandparents, children, kindergartners, children instructors, nannies and babysitters – you are all invited!

Home: Mural in Neve Sha’anan – A collaborative community art project
In collaboration with Neve Sha’anan Art Forum curated by 1:1 Center for Art and Politics
Instructed by Katherine Nelson (ARDC)
What does a home mean for you? Is a house a permanent place for you? Can there be more than one house to a man? An art project based on collection of stories and experiences by the African Asylum-Seekers living in Neve Sha’anan neighbourhood ends with a peak event: creating a public wall painting in the neighbourhood – with your participance!
Location: Location will be given on Hasharon 4.

‘The Crazy Refugee’ – A new production by the Israeli – African Stage
World premiere!
A new original play by the actor and playwright, the Darfurian asylum-seeker, Yasser Abdallah
Director and Translation from Arabic: Yaffa Schuster
The Crazy Refugee is a comic play, that looks at the torments, exploitation, poverty and all the difficulties of everyday life with a laughing, loving and even forgiving eye. The hierarchical relations expected between exploiter and exploited are given a dramatic twist in the show. The play is accompanied by live music.

‘And Breathe Normally’ – A projection of the successful debut film of the Icelandic filmmaker Ísold Uggadóttir, winner of Sundance Film Festival
The Movie, winner of the World Cinema Dramatic Directing Award at the 2018 Sundance Film, portrays the story of a fateful encounter of Adja, a refugee from Guinea-Bissau, with Lara, a hard-working single mom in Iceland.
