Dead Sea Country Marathon
Experience the lowest place in the world
Ein Bokek

The Dead Sea Marathon is growing out of the foundations of the old Ein Gedi race, which for over 30 years has hosted tens of thousands of runners and has become an anchor point in the annual table of amateur and professional athletes from all over the country who have become addicted to the magical scenery and quiet. As a continuation of the commemoration project, the 10 km event will be held in memory of Tomer and Giora Ron, members of Kibbutz Ein Gedi.

The beating heart of the event is located on the Dead Sea shore, on the new promenade of the hotel complex (Ein Bokek), from where the runners will jump and where they will return to the final. Dead Sea hotels will offer participants accommodation right on the starting line.

The highlight of the race is running into the sea on the rampart of the Dead Sea Works that surrounds the southern part of the Dead Sea. For the first time, the runners will find breathtaking landscapes that have been preserved until now only for the Dead Sea workers or the security forces.
The battery serves as the border area between the Dead Sea and the Jordanian Dead Sea and passes as a barrier without a fence between countries that maintain a common and peaceful routine. The track is mostly on compact but very flat kurkar and ensures quick running for optimal results.

Competition:
• 10 km – running along the new Dead Sea Promenade, named after Tomer and Giora Ron.
• 21.1 km semi-marathon – a fast and flat track crossing the “embankment” at the Dead Sea.
• 42 km marathon – a fast race around the shore of the southern Dead Sea to 21 km on the embankment.
• 50 km – for the first time in Israel! Official Championship for 50 km.
* Monetary prizes will be awarded to the General Conductors in all four positions.

We invite the runners to take part in the Dead Sea marathon – the lowest race in the world that offers participants a one-time running experience in the areas they never wanted, alongside professional production and management values and a well-known tradition of excellence.

Tourism and Recreation
At the height of 392 meters below sea level is located Ein Bokek – the main tourist and entertainment complex on the Israeli side of the Dead Sea. There are 12 hotels in the complex, and the Dead Sea Mall will soon open, covering 10,000 square meters.

Some of the hotels operate medical centers specializing in medical tourism. A three-kilometer promenade connects Ein Bokek to the tourist attraction of Hemi Zohar, which is located near Neve Zohar, south of Ein Bokek, with three other hotels. It is also recommended to visit the Bokek Fortress, a Byzantine fortress north of Nahal Bokek, just west of Highway 90, and the remains of the Hasmonean farmhouse that was destroyed in the Great Revolt.

As part of the marathon events, we offer a number of vacation packages at the hotel’s hotels at a variety of price levels for hosting the race participants and their family members – more details soon
