Israeli Opera House - Sderot Sha'ul HaMelech 19, Tel Aviv,

In December 2018, one of the most grandiose classical ballets of all time, a ballet that must be seen at least once in one’s life, will be presented in Tel Aviv. It is about “Spartacus” in the supply of Yuri Grigorovich, performed by 60 artists of his Dance Theater.

This ballet was staged by Yury Grigorovich at the Bolshoi Theater in April 1968.
By that time, Igor Moiseev and Leonid Yakobson had already presented their stage incarnations of this score. However, it was Spartak Grigorovich that became the hallmark of the theater and Soviet ballet as a whole, one of the most striking works of the Russian ballet school, rightly considered one of the most beautiful, dynamic and spectacular ballet performances in the world.

The libretto of the play is based on the eponymous novel by the Italian writer Rafaello Giovagnoli. The ballet owes its unique style to the beautiful music of the outstanding composer Aram Khachaturian. Another great master, People’s Artist of the USSR Simon Virsaladze, who helped Yuri Grigorovich to stage this performance as a theater artist, took part in the work on the ballet “Spartacus”.
