Since 2005, Awareness Day has been held in 50 countries around the world, marking the date on which homosexuality was removed from the list of mental disorders by the World Health Organization, on 17.5.90. This is an important milestone in our long struggle for human liberation and the establishment of a society free from sexual and gender oppression.
This year we chose to mark the Day of Understanding in collaboration with the Proud Youth Organization and the youth movements and organizations in the city of Tel Aviv-Yafo.
Prior to the event, all the movements and organizations will hold a dedicated outreach activity in the branches, and led by representatives of all the movements, Tel Aviv youth will march to the Magen Meir youth march to the Habima plaza, in protest against the hater phobia. A protest human performance will also be filmed on stage.

משנת 2005 יום ההבנ””ה מתקיים ב-50 מדינות ברחבי העולם ומציין את המועד שבו הוסרה ההומוסקסואליות מרשימת ההפרעות הנפשיות על ידי ארגון הבריאות העולמי, ב- 17.5.90. זוהי נקודת ציון חשובה במאבק הארוך שלנו לשחרור האדם ולכינון חברה חופשית מדיכוי מיני ומגדרי.בישראל מצוין היום תחת השם הבנ””ה – המציג מסר חיובי בעד הבנה, סובלנות ופלורליזם ומתוך תפיסה לפיה רוב גילויי הלהט””בפוביה נובעים מבורות ומפחד ולא רק משנאה.
השנה בחרנו לציין את יום ההבנה בשיתוף ארגון הנוער הגאה ותנועות וארגוני הנוער בעיר ת””א-יפו. לקראת האירוע כלל התנועות והארגונים יקיימו פעילות הסברה ייעודית בסניפים ובהובלת נציגות ונציגים מכלל התנועות יצאו נוער ת””א בצעדת נוער מגן מאיר לרחבת הבימה, כמחאה נגד להטבופוביה. בהבימה נצלם מיצג אנושי מחאתי.
