About the speakers:

Joel (Jody) Stein received his law and business degrees (JD/MBA) from Columbia University in 1987. Before emigrating to Israel in 1993 he worked for six years at the New York offices of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius and at Shearman & Sterling in corporate finance, securities and environmental law. Upon arriving in Israel and being admitted to the Israel Bar, Mr. Stein served for two years as general counsel of a leading Israeli software development company and its venture capital subsidiary. Mr. Stein joined Pearl Cohen in 1996 and is a partner in its corporate and intellectual property department. His practice focuses on private financing for the high-tech sector, cross-border joint ventures and technology licensing. His clients include a large number of start-up companies as well as several of Israel’s ‘blue-chip’ high-tech companies. Mr. Stein has resided in Bet Shemesh for the past 25 years.

Elan Zivotofsky joined Ibex Investors (Formerly Lazarus Investment Partners) in June 2017, and is a Partner focused on Israeli startups. Elan has over 20 years of on-the-ground experience researching, raising capital for, and investing in Israeli companies. Elan has deep knowledge of the Israeli investment landscape, startup ecosystem and the overall Israeli capital markets. Before joining Ibex, Zivotofsky spent 5 years as the Head of Investments at OurCrowd where he was one of the founding partners. Prior to joining OurCrowd, Elan was the Managing Partner of the Prelude Israel Fund, a hedge fund focused on Israeli companies. Prior to founding Prelude, Elan was a Senior Vice President and the Head of Technology investment banking at Lehman Brothers in Israel from 2004-2008. Prior to Lehman, Zivotofsky was a portfolio manager at Oasis Capital, a multi-billion hedge fund with a focus on long/short, catalyst driven and special situation investing. Between 1997-2002, Elan was a top-ranked Israeli technology research analyst at Goldman Sachs. Elan started his career as a technology research analyst at Morgan Stanley in New York (1994-1997). Elan received a BA from the University of Pennsylvania (magna cum laude).
