Kanta Bar - Ibn Gvirol 71, Tel Aviv, FREE

Join us for our first Tel Aviv Bar Talk with Matti Friedman, author of PumpkinFlowers, The Aleppo Codex and the renowned essay in the Atlantic, “What the Media Gets Wrong About Israel”. Matti will be speaking about his vast experience and understanding of Israel’s North, as well as his book PumpkinFlowers, which focuses on the first Lebanon War and delves into how it changed the Israeli political landscape forever, noting that it made Israelis “allergic to ideology, thinkers of small practical thoughts, livers of life between bombardments.”

UJIA has been working to promote the development of the North of Israel for over a decade. Our projects, generously supported by the British Jewish community, bring quality education, and most importantly opportunity, to some of Israel’s most impoverished communities.

The event is FREE but there will be competitions and give aways throughout the night, proceeds of which will go to bettering Jewish, Arab, Druze and Bedouin children from the social and geographic periphery of the Galilee.

There will be a book signing, and copies of PumpkinsFlowers will be available at the event.
