Atlas Shapira - Mesilat Yesharim 15, Tel Aviv,

Samba rock (also known as samba soul, samba funk, and sambalanço) is a Brazilian dance culture and music genre that fuses samba with soul, rock, and funk. It emerged from the dance parties of São Paulo’s lower-class black communities after they had been exposed to rock and roll and African-American music in the late 1950s.

As a development of 1960s brazilian popular music, the genre was pioneered by recording acts such as Jorge Ben, Tim Maia, and Trio Mocotó. It gained a wider popularity in the following decades after breaking through into discotheques. By the 2000s, samba rock had grown into a broader cultural movement involving dancers, disc jockeys, scholars, and musicians, who reinvented the genre in a modernized form.

With the purpose of bringing a bunch of different types of rhythms, that included samba rock and others Brazilian genres, the group transa tropical invites everyone to rock the body at the last day of the year. At the set list we’re gonna play Tim Maia, Jorge Ben jor and also Di melo,Novos Baianos, Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Chico Cesar and others. Composed by two Brazilians, an Israeli and a Cuban, the band will play for the first time at the 31th of December! The party will be happening at Atlas Bar, located at Shapira. Around 9pm the DJ’s start with a lot of Brazilian music and at 11h the group starts to play.

We also ask that each one feels free to bring a kilo of non-perishable food in order to donate to some non-governmental organization that takes care of refuges. Let’s begin a new year helping people and doing a kind act!

Come to celebrate the “happy new 2020 year with us
