Tony Ray, Israeli-Jamaican Reggae legend, came to Israel at the end of the 60’s and quickly became one of the biggest stars in the country. Tony Ray is the first artist who recorded a Reggae album in Israel . Between his hit songs are “Shman’mana (Fatty Bum Bum)” , “Shuk HaCarmel” , “Rama’im (Cheaters)” , “Kuskus Ham” and more, took over the radio and invaded the Israeli music pantheon.
Many succesful musicians started their carrier in Tony Ray’s band- from Yossi Fine, Amit Sagie (Ha’tikva 6), Michael Avgil (Ha’tikva 6), and to Eran Zur and Avi Balleli.
Tony collaborated with the legendary CuttyRanks and Prezident Brown !
In addition to that, Tony took part in “Zehu Ze”, an unforgettable performance in “Alex Is Lovesick” and of course his most famous commercial “Two For Mango”. Tony released over the year many cover versions that got Tony’s special musical color and became classics themselves.
Ray recorded over the years 8 albums and performed in Israel and abroad in big Reggae festivals (from “Rock Against Hate” in Switzerland 1997 and until “Ganja Festival” 2018 in Jamaica). He is celebrating these days 50 years of successful carrier and 35 years to his first Reggae album “I Feel Like Reggae”.
His new and 9th album was released at 28.6 – under the name “Mi Love Mi Black Skin” !
The first single released is “Ani Ve’ata” (Arik Einstein cover) received a lot of buzz in the media.

טוני ריי, אגדת הרגאיי הישראלית-ג’מאיקנית, שעלה לארץ בסוף שנות ה-60 והפך די מהר לאחד הכוכבים הגדולים בארץ. טוני היה הראשון בישראל שהוציא אלבום רגאיי. בין להיטיו “שמנמנה”, “שוק הכרמל”, “רמאים” קוסקוס חם” ועוד, חרכו את הרדיו ונכנסו לפנתיאון המוסיקה הישראלית.
מוסיקאים רבים וטובים התחילו את דרכם בלהקתו של טוני ריי – מיוסי פיין, עמית שגיא (התקווה 6, פאנקנשטיין), מיכאל אבגיל (התקווה 6) ועד ערן צור, ואבי בללי.
טוני שיתף גם פעולה עם- CuttyRanks ו Prezident Brown האגדיים !
בנוסף לכך, טוני השתתף בתוכניות ב”זהו זה”, הופעתו הבלתי נשכחת באלכס חולה אהבה וכמובן הפרסומת הכה זכירה “שניים למנגו”. בנוסף טוני שיחרר לא מעט “קאברים” שקיבלו את הצבע המיוחד לו והפכו יחד עם שיריו לקאלט.
ריי, שלאורך השנים הקליט 8 אלבומים והופיע בארץ ובחו”ל בפסטיבלי רגאיי נחשבים בעולם (Rock Against Hate 1997 שבשוויץ ועד Ganja Festival 2018 בג’מייקה) חוגג בימים אלה 50 שנות קריירה מצליחה ו-35 שנה לאלבום הרגאיי הראשון בישראל- “תן לי רגאיי”.
ב26.8 שוחרר אלבומו התשיעי של טוני – “אוהב להיות שחור” !
מתוכו שוחרר הסינגל “אני ואתה” (אריק איינשטיין) וזכה להד תקשורתי גדול.
