Wed 10 October 2018 | 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Cuckoo's Nest - Noam 3, Tel Aviv,

On Wednesday, 10.10, we will host at the Coca-Cola’s Think & Drink meetings Dr. Shai Biderman, Jeremy Fogel and Ami Steiner to three short TED lectures (about 25-30 minutes each) on three problems that concern philosophers.

Lecture content:

Dr. Shai Biderman – “Only I had to talk about myself”: But … who am I?

The concept of identity is so common to our language and so vital to our existence that we do not stop for a moment to wonder whether we really understand the meaning of the concept. In this meeting of Dr. Shai Biderman, a lecturer in philosophy and cinema, we will present the question, its components, its implications, and we shall emphasize its importance.

Ami Steiner – Invitation to the Philosophy of Science

What is the connection between science and philosophy? What are the philosophical principles at the base of science and how have scientific discoveries contributed to our philosophical understanding of the world in which we live? At the meeting we will become familiar with the philosophical foundations that science has defined in order to understand the universe and develop theories that explain it, and to recognize a number of examples in which the scientific discoveries opened the door to a new philosophical understanding of the world and our place in it

Jeremy Fogel – Death: Pros and Cons

Death is real. He arrives without warning. And so far, there was no one to find a way to avoid it. The question of death, and our mortality, has occupied philosophy since its inception.
In a lecture by Jeremy Fogel, a professor of philosophy at Tel Aviv University, we will think about some of the deep and fascinating ideas about our finality: We will talk about philosophers who were against, those who were in favor, and those who did not really care.
