1983, and Yaakov Cohen, the owner of a Jerusalem printing press, broke his head. He seems to have been born on the wrong side, with the wrong family name, and in a moment’s decision he decides to establish an ultra-Orthodox list that will run for the Jerusalem municipality. He gathers two friends, none of whom have a clue in politics, and together they improvise the most surprising, funniest, and most exciting campaign here. No means, no connections, no money but with much rage and desire. Against all odds, they manage to enter the municipality, only from that moment, everything goes wrong …

“Unofficial” is the first film by the creator of the hit “Shababnikim” Eliran Malka – a sweeping comic drama starring Caste and exceptional actors led by Shuli Rand, in a rare and impressive performance, in the role of one person who wanted a small change and changed an entire country.

Microsinema-Film for Change is a non-profit social initiative that works to bring cinema to neighborhoods and communities that do not have cinemas in cooperation with residents and social activists. The activists choose the films, take part in organizing the events themselves, where the card is sold for 10 NIS. After each film, there is a conversation with a facilitator from the world of film, culture and society, whose goal is to raise subjects relevant to viewers and their lives.
