On 20.9 in a documentary in Shapira!
We will screen the film “Petah Tikva”, in which the film’s director returns to her classmates, reunites them and tells a story about the past. After the film screening we will meet for a conversation with the director.

The film’s director, returns to her classmates when they are forty years old to meet them again and tell their collective history. From the collage created in the transitions between meetings, a group portrait of a generation emerges: the middle of Israel, the middle of life. The children who grew up in the nineties, a decade that began with the optimism of peace talks and ended with the rupture of the second intifada. The first generation that knew hope in Israel, and also, perhaps, the generation that lost it.

יעל ראובני, במאית הסרט, חוזרת לבני כיתתה כשהם בני ארבעים כדי לפגוש אותם מחדש ולספר את ההיסטוריה הקולקטיבית שלהם. מתוך הקולאז׳ שנוצר במעברים בין מפגש למפגש עולה דיוקן קבוצתי של דור: אמצע ישראל, אמצע החיים. הילדים שהתבגרו בשנות התשעים, עשור שהתחיל באופטימיות של שיחות שלום ונגמר בשבר של האינתיפאדה השנייה. הדור הראשון שידע תקווה בישראל, וגם, אולי, הדור שאיבד אותה.
