About the exhibition:
The beginning of the end of the 1990s was marked by a young and subversive Israeli rock. Dina, then a fresh graduate of the Meimad School of Photography, and Amir Kertes’s wife from a noise band, walked around with a camera. Documents the friends on the stage, focuses on the characters that make up the mosaic of the period, and creates untrammeled portraits, in intimate and elusive moments that were created on it. Kertes photographed in the dark and smoky clubs captures in light the people who will soon become stars and define a period in Israeli music.
Amir Curtis died a year ago, on 1.1.2018. During his shiva, the pictures, which appeared in the exhibition, emerged from the boxes, evoked memories and at the end of the mourning year they turned into an exhibition that is a “drop of rock” in a wide desert. The exhibition and the evening of performances at Herzl 16 are thanks to him and his memory. The name of the exhibition is taken from the song “Shaul” written by Kertes, which was published on the album “Noise Just Noise.” Since 1994. The “Desert” was also a pub in Tel Aviv, which for many of the subjects was the beginning of everything.
