On Friday, August 1962, Jamaica celebrated its independence from years of British rule. This tiny island has always provided the world with juicy mantu music (the Jamaican equivalent of Calypso) and the Caribbean-style veins n ‘blues. And near independence, the sca-fi fever that plagued the world for decades.
Jamaica has positioned itself as a rich musical and cultural incubator that brought us the Reggae, the Dove, the first MSCs who were the first rappers before hip hop, the emphasis on the bass, the worship of the vid, the Rastafari faith and way of life, And the opposition to Sistem and Babylon.
On Saturday, August 5 (the day before the festivities of August 6)
We will gather for the independence of Jamaica Style with a sea of bottles of rum, 45 records, sound system, selectors, exhibition and lecture.
