Emanuel Christ is a Swiss architect and founding partner of the world-renowned studio Christ & Gantenbein, based in Basel. The main focus of his work is the museum architecture, the Kunstmuseum Basel and the renewal and extension of the Swiss National Museum (Landesmuseum Zürich), being the most important examples of his work.
Besides his work in the field of museum architecture, Emanuel Christ has also produced a huge body of architectural work both in Switzerland and beyond its borders: private houses, renovation of historic buildings, office buildings and urban plans. He is also involved in teaching and academic research; he is currently professor at the ETH Zürich and was visiting professor at Harvard University.
The relationship between Israel and Switzerland is growing stronger and stronger with time, as both countries have become leaders of innovation and creativity in arts and science. This series is celebrating these booming dynamics by launching a new and unique cultural initiative in Israel. The meetings, held in Sommer Contemporary Art Gallery in Tel Aviv, will each be dedicated to a different topic.
