“THE BEST ONE WOMAN SHOW.” -Todd
“A VIRTUOSO PERFORMANCE!” -Nim “AMAZING!” -Kamila “FULL OF SPARKLE, TALENT, HUMOUR!” -Jude

After a successful international tour, Erin Hunter’s Surfing the Holyland arrives in Tel Aviv for one performance only at The Alsaraya Jaffa Theatre!

Tickets on the door 80ILS. Cash only.

ABOUT THE SHOW:

“This is the story of the year I spent in colorful, aggressive, neurotic Israel and how I survived. How my parents visited once and nearly disowned me; how my husband found God and then I sabotaged his Orthodox Bar Mitzvah. And how amid all of this…I learned to surf.”

Heather is bored of her job, bored of Ohio, and bored of (cough) fertility problems…so when her husband Zach lands a high-tech job in Tel Aviv, she happily swaps home for the exotic Holyland. But the Israeli balagan* slaps Heather with a big dose of culture shock, a rejected work visa, and a husband married to work. So how does exercise-allergic Heather cope? Naturally, she learns to surf.

A classic fish out of water tale about finding your inner chutzpah, this seventy-minute comedy is told as a series of surf lessons; it combines quirky storytelling and sharp observational comedy. Erin plays a colorful cast of twelve characters at breakneck pace, surfs on moving boxes and performs four original comedy songs on the ukulele.

Although loosely inspired by Erin’s experiences living in Israel and learning to surf, please note: the show is 100% fiction…95% fiction…At least 90%. Okay, 70. 70% fiction.

*Definition of BALAGAN: (Hebrew) a mess, a chaotic scene, a circus.

Supported by JW3 in London, UK.
