On September 28, 1928, Sir Alexander Fleming returned from vacation and discovered that all the bacterial cultures he had left were destroyed by mold. A closer look showed him that mold had deadly properties, a later mobile discovery for the development of penicillin that made the 20th century worth more than all the centuries it had, despite everything.
