Join us for a two-day American-Israeli gospel music celebration, in honor of Black History Month, celebrated in the U.S. throughout the month of February.

American gospel music is beloved around the world because of its deep sounds, harmonies, and sweeping soulful rhythms. Gospel music has always served as an inspiration for many artists – including The Beatles, Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, and Aretha Franklin – and has influenced musical genres ranging from jazz to blues and rock and roll.

Gospel music also played an important role in the civil rights movement in the United States in the 1960s, and its positive, unifying messages embody the universal significance of Black History Month, which celebrates tolerance, love, cross-cultural dialogue, and hope.

The festival is sponsored by the U.S. Embassy, in collaboration with the Tel Aviv Yafo Municipality and Rimon School of Music, under the artistic director of Ofer Portugaly.
