The Institute for Structural Reform is honored to host Prof. Joseph Zeira for a lecture following his fascinating book “The Israeli Economy”.

Joseph Zeira is a professor of economics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and president of the Israel Economic Association. His main field of research is macroeconomics, especially economic growth, inequality, income distribution, and technology. Mazira is active in many public areas in Israel, including the Ex Peace Economic Research Group, the Jonah-Spivak teams for the social protest and the Alalouf Committee for the War on Poverty.

His book “The Israeli Economy” sums up 37 years of research on the development of the Israeli economy against the background of the history of the country in light of an up-to-date economic theory. In his lecture at the Institute, which will take place about two weeks before the general elections to the Knesset, Prof. Zeira will elaborate on the political developments in Israel on the global and economic background, the dynamics of structural reforms in the Israeli economy – socialism or capitalism? The economic effects of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and the relationship between economic policy and economic research.
