Zuz Ajansi presents:
Pere Ubu

One of the most important and influential avant-garde ensembles, arrives in Israel for one night at the Barby club.

The legendary Poe Obo was founded in 1975, and since then its breakthrough debut album, The Modern Dance, which was released 40 years ago (January 1978) and is still among the most important avant-garde ensembles in the world.
The ensemble has designed and renewed musical genres (prog-rock, funk, post punk, new wave) and influenced entire generations of musicians such as Joy Division, Pixies, R.E.M, Henry Rollins, Bauhaus, Julian Kop and others.

From the day it was founded, the only member of the band is David Thomas, the band’s voice, who writes, composes and produces.
Different critics have tried to define her musical line over the years, but Pere Ubu has always strived to undermine conventions and definitions and in all its years of activity it breaks and deconstructs styles of rock, blues, and jazz and it was a post-punk, even before the concept existed. Avant-garde in all her limbs.

Per Obo comes to us for the first time for a one-time performance during the tour of the last album released in 2017: 20 Years In Montana Missile Silo. The album’s 16th album is probably the richest musical album with 9 musicians, including Christoph Han of the Swans. Even after 40 years, Thomas and Pere Ubu continue to innovate and defy (as can be heard and seen in the clip to Monkey Bizness) and receive favorable reviews.

On bringing Pere Ubu to Israel, the independent production company ZUZZ Agency is responsible for the upcoming arrival of Damien Jurado + Mass Gothic, Cigarretes After Sex, KNOWER.
