The “Oye Division” band plays Eastern Jewish folklore Wild European, fast, happy and ecstatic, with no additions, as the music was originally played.
The squeaky violin, the whining clarinet, yelling in Yiddish and Russian – it’s hard to decide if the music is a tragic joy or a depressing indulgence. Of course, it doesn’t matter, since you are dancing with complete strangers anyway, with the “oye” ambiguous shouts!
